Xyanide Resurrection to gra z gatunku "shootem up", łącząca w sobie cechy klasycznych strzelanin i nowoczesnej technologii obecnej w konsoli PSP. Za jej stworzenie odpowiedzialna jest holenderska firma wydawniczo developerska, Playlogic, której dziełem jest Xyanide w wersji na konsolę Xbox.
Gracz wciela się w postać kata o imieniu Drake. Nasze ostatnie zadanie polegające na przetransportowaniu złej Wiedźmy Aguiry na miejsce jej kaźni nie powiodło się. Aguira, niszczycielka planet i cywilizacji, zdołała uciec swemu przeznaczeniu. Dodatkowo znajdujemy się w dziwnym świecie, gdzie prawa fizyki wydają się nie obowiązywać - jest to świat stworzony przez Aguirę przy użyciu potężnego Xyanide i jej umysłu. Musimy wyrwać się z niego, niszcząc przy okazji wszystko, co wiedźma stawia na naszej drodze.
Aby powrócić do swojego świata musimy zestrzelić jak największą ilość wrogów a następnie zebrać cząstki Xyanide, które po sobie zostawiają. A nie jest to zadanie łatwe, bowiem nieprzyjaciele potrafią dostosowywać swoje zachowanie do naszej strategii. Przed nami 5 rozległych światów podzielonych na 15 poziomów bronionych zarówno przez zwykłych żołnierzy wroga jak i bossów. Pomocą w walce z nimi służą rozmaite power-upy jak również możliwość ulepszania swojego statku za pomocą zebranych kredytów. Możemy za nie zakupić zarówno opancerzenie jak i różne rodzaje organicznych i mechanicznych broni. Xyanide Resurrection oferuje także 5 różnych zakończeń w zależności od podejmowanych przez nas akcji.
Oprócz zabawy dla jednego gracza Xyanide Resurrection umożliwia także rozgrywki wieloosobowe, w których można zmierzyć się w trybach co-op oraz competitive.
